Siona's Update

July 7th, 2010

After waiting for over 2 days we got the phone call around 5.00 this evening and the news we were waiting for finally came and unfortunately it wasn’t the # we were looking for. The abnormal cell count is still 13% which means we were stable throughout but not enough to get Siona into remission. Siona is such a brave girl and visually has done great, which to us makes this journey more bearable. We will meet with the doctors on Friday and then decide where we go from here. We are obviously disappointed, but when you look at Siona and see her smiles and energy we know we will continue to keep trying to get her into remission and go for transplant as the goal.

Siona and Sohil have been wonderful throughout and we just had a great time last weekend in Leavenworth golfing, eating, sleeping, swimming, and relaxing. We are grateful that we have gotten to have so much quality time with Siona even with all this cancer stuff. Bottom line is cancer sucks big time, and we are not going to give up in any way, but at the same time we will always keep quality of life in the back of our minds. Sorry for the short update but really words can’t describe the disappointment we are feeling right now. Siona has done everything we have asked of her, mostly with a smile on her face, which truly is the hard part. To accept that things aren’t going in Siona’s direction is hard because you feel that she deserves so much better than this.

Just keep doing what you are doing in making each day count. That is what it is all about...praying for good news in the future.

We have been thinking of you all and keeping Siona in our hearts and prayers. We all remember our little Siona in Jamaica as the flower girl walking down the aisle. We know how brave and strong she is. Our wishes and blessings.

Future Health, Fun, and Wellness Fund for Siona

We have gotten many requests from friends and family as to what Siona would like to have or toys she may want. When we ask her what her wish is, she says, "I want to be well again". We really appreciate the prayers, gifts, and cards, in addition, we have setup a fund for Siona's future use. It's something for her to look forward to when she's done with all this stupidity as she refers to her cancer.
